Position: Assistant Team Manager

Location: Trinity Road, Bootle, L20 3NJ

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 5+ Months

Working Hours: 36 hours per week

Pay Rate: £25.13 Per Hour

Job Responsibilities

Work collaboratively within the Youth Justice Service and alongside partner agencies to support children, young people, and families.

Deliver interventions aimed at preventing offending behaviour and reducing the likelihood of children entering the criminal justice system.

Assess and manage risk, vulnerability, safeguarding concerns, and risks of serious harm while ensuring public protection.

Undertake comprehensive assessments and develop tailored intervention and support plans to promote positive outcomes.

Build effective relationships with children, young people, and families, including those who may be difficult to engage.

Support children and young people to make positive behavioural changes and improve their future opportunities.

Maintain accurate case records, reports, and documentation in line with statutory and organisational requirements.

Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, panels, reviews, and court proceedings where required.

Work in partnership with social care, education, health, police, probation, and community organisations to achieve successful outcomes.

Promote safeguarding, welfare, and the voice of the child in all areas of practice.

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and professional standards.

Support student placements and contribute to team development where required.

Person Specification

Recognised professional qualification in Social Work, Probation Studies, Youth & Community, or a relevant youth/criminal justice qualification with associated experience.

Significant experience working with children, young people, and families within youth justice, safeguarding, social care, or related settings.

Strong knowledge of youth justice legislation, safeguarding procedures, and child protection frameworks.

Experience assessing risk, vulnerability, and offending behaviour and developing effective intervention plans.

Ability to engage effectively with hard-to-reach children, young people, and families.

Experience of successful partnership and multi-agency working.

Strong communication, assessment, report writing, and organisational skills.

Ability to manage complex caseloads and make sound professional decisions.

Commitment to child-centred and restorative approaches to practice.

Good IT skills and ability to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
